1. Michigan State University recognizes that an assortment of interests, viewpoints, and life experiences are important in student learning and enhance the university community. Describe an experience, passion, or characteristic that illustrates what you would contribute to the MSU community and how this will add to the overall richness of campus life.

There are various activities in my life, such as hard studying, hiking, gathering, competitions and so on. And what impresses me most was my experience of being a volunteer teacher in the summer vacation of high school. I was told what is responsibility by the experience.

  When I have nothing to do at home in the summer vacation, I heard that the school organized some summer activities, the people who participated would receive additional praise for the final grade. I came to school and found there were enough students to occupy the activities except volunteer teacher which aimed at providing children in poor areas with an English education. As a matter of fact, I did not show any interest in this activity, for I thought that I just wasted my time and energy, the activities were a show to find some reason to add points for some person. Fortunately, the target was not far from my home and the teaching time was short, just one week. I thought my English was pretty good so I enrolled as a member of the teaching group. As my first time to teach others English in the class, I became quite excited and made up my mind to prepare for the class as well as I could. Because the teaching time was very short, I cannot teach all the section of the textbook, I have to choose some classic sections to tell. I read the all the sections of the textbook three times and choose seven articles. What's more, in order to prepare the lessons, I searched on the Internet for some additional information which could make the lessons easily understand. 

Quickly, my first lesson was coming, there were 50 students crowing in a small classroom. To my surprise, the atmosphere in the classroom did not as warm as I thought. Most of the students' listening was poor, and their spoken were worse than their listening. They were very shy and did not have enough confidence to express their view by English. Fortunately, I had prepared a number of PPT which was about animated characters, and the students loved it. I allowed them speak English with Chinese words, so the students began to exchange up slowly and happily. In the following lessons, I used the same method for teaching and achieved good results. After all the lessons, students slowly dared to open their mouth to speak English.

I really benefit a lot from the unforgettable experience. I did not expect I had brought so much helps to others in advance, and after the teaching experience, I found that there are a lot of people around who faced various difficulties, which were easy for us. If we can help them actively, their lives could be easier. It is the self-realization that really makes our life meaningful. Also it is the responsibility to help others to make the society harmonious. 

I think responsibility is like a small seeds, once it sowing in our mind, with the passage of time, it will take root, germination and growing. So If I luckily join Michigan State University, I will persist align the responsibility to help more people. Maybe I will organize some classmate to China as a volunteer English teacher

在我的生活中有很多經歷，如刻苦學習，遠足歷游，搜集，比賽等。而給我印象最深的是那次高中暑假，我成為一名志愿者老師的暑期活動。讓我知道了什么是責任。

那年暑假我在家很無聊，沒什么事做。聽說學校組織一些暑期活動，參加者會受到額外的獎勵，并計入期末最終考評。于是我便來到學校，發現報名的學生已經很多了，除了為貧困地區的孩子做英語老師志愿者之外，其他的活動都滿員了。事實上，我對這些活動也沒有任何興趣，因為我覺得這只是浪費時間和精力。這些活動只是一場秀，給某些人加分而已。不過幸運的是，支教目的地離我家不遠，教學時間也很短，只有一個星期。我想我的英語很不錯，所以加入該教學組。由于我第一次在課堂上教別人英語，我變得很興奮，決心要盡我所能，為上課做好準備。由于教學時間很短，我不能教課本所有內容，需要選擇一些經典的部分來教。我把教科書通讀了三次，然后選擇7篇文章。而且，為了備課，我在互聯網上搜索一些其他的內容，使課程更容易理解。

很快，我的第一次課來了，一個小教室里面擠著50名學生。出乎我的意料，課堂上的氣氛并沒有像我想象的活躍。大多數學生的聽力比較差，而他們的口語比聽力更差。而且他們都非常害羞，沒有足夠的信心通過英語來表達自己的觀點。好在我已經準備了許多的PPT，這些PPT中都是一些動畫人物，同學們喜歡它。我讓他們講夾雜著中文的英語，所以學生們開始慢慢的交流起來。在后面的課上，我用同樣的方法進行教學，取得了良好的效果。經過所有的課程后，學生們慢慢的敢開口說英語。

我從這次令人難忘的經歷中獲益良多。我之前并沒有想到我能給別人帶來這么多幫助。我發現周圍有很多人會遇到各種各樣的困難，但這些困難對于我們是很容易做到的。如果我們能積極地幫助他們，他們的生活可以更容易一些。幫助他人是自我價值的實現，真正使我們的生活更有意義。此外，我們有責任幫助他人，使社會和諧。

我認為責任是一個小種子，一旦它在我們腦海里播種，隨著時間的推移，它會生根，發芽和長大。所以，如果我幸運地進入了密歇根州立大學，我會盡自己的責任幫助更多的人。也許我會組織一些同學到中國作為英語老師志愿者。
